UIS and the Child Welfare League of America partner to establish simulation training to support new standards for child protective services

The University of Illinois Springfield Alliance for Experiential Problem-Based Learning is partnering with the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) to establish simulation training to support the implementation of new standards for child protective services. The training will be used by child protection investigative workers to better protect children from abuse.

UIS to host a networking summit for local government and non-profit leaders

WHAT: The University of Illinois Springfield Center for State Policy and Leadership, College of Public Affairs and Education and Win Together will host a Government Excellence Network Summit that will bring together local government and non-profit leaders for a shared learning experience aimed at empowering them with innovative strategies and practical solutions to drive excellence in their communities.

UIS Center for State Policy and Leadership to showcase its important work

The University of Illinois Springfield’s Center for State Policy and Leadership (CSPL) will discuss the important work it’s doing to promote the public good during its annual showcase event on Thursday, Sept. 14 in the UIS Student Union Ballroom. The event will begin at 8 a.m. with networking and a breakfast, followed by the program from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

Motor Vehicle Data Linkage Project

The Illinois Motor Vehicle Data Linkage (MVDL) Project

Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Public Health in collaboration with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the overall goal of this project is to link state health and transportation data to support local, regional, and statewide highway safety decision-making to affect decreases in deaths, non-fatal injuries, and health care costs resulting from motor vehicle crashes, which will help make Illinois roads safer.

“The pandemic impacted all of the Center’s divisions in a variety of ways.  For the Child Protection Training Academy it meant an immediate transition to a different kind of simulation training, one that had not yet been contemplated or piloted.  Amy quickly envisioned a hybrid simulation training model that met the needs of the DCFS workforce, using a combination of technology and in-person interactions transmitted over Zoom.  The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and several states have reached out to observe our model so they
