Since 2015, The Civil Service Advisory Council (CSAC) has partnered with the Chancellor to provide professional development funding for civil service employees at UIS. Each status CS employee employed at least 50% time may apply for funds to use toward any aspect of professional development during the award year. A call for applications is typically sent via email to all CS employees early in the fall semester. The Professional Development Applications will be reviewed and granted by members of your elected Civil Service Advisory Council.
Chancellor’s Award for Recognizing Excellence in Civil Service (CARE in Civil Service)
This award, established jointly by the chancellor and the Civil Service Advisory Council, will serve to recognize the exceptional work of all civil service employees and will honor one employee each year.
The Civil Service Advisory Council meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month. The Council year is July through June.
All meetings for the Civil Service Advisory Council are recorded and uploaded to the Civil Service Advisory Council Meetings folder on Kaltura
Any status civil service employee may circulate a petition to request to be on the ballot for the Civil Service Advisory Council. Only civil service employees may vote in the election to choose council members. Terms of office are two years. There is no term limit. Eight representatives are elected in even years and seven are elected in odd years.
Our job is to be a two-way conduit of information between Civil Service employees and University administration.
If you have questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us collectively using the CSAC mailbox, or individually using members email accounts.
