Commencement Program

Those attending commencement in person will receive a printed program that includes summarized ceremony information.  A complete commencement program (including graduate names, etc.) will be posted online.

Eligibility

The following three groups of individuals may have been eligible to participate in the upcoming commencement ceremonies if they met all of the listed guidelines.  There were NO exceptions to the criteria listed below.  Please note that students can only participate in the commencement ceremony in which they are FIRST eligible (based upon the term for which the student submitted an online graduation application).  Students cannot participate in more than one ceremony for the same degree program.

Photo Opportunities and Graduate Activities

There will be a number of photo ops on campus during the days of commencement, May 9 and 10. Locations will include the Student Union, Colonnade, Lincoln Statue, and University entrance. There will also be a number of graduate activities held during the week of commencement. We encourage graduates to take photos and participate in activities to help celebrate their achievement!

Happy Graduation (in September!)

Springfield’s class of 2020 was honored Saturday afternoon in two separate commencement exercises, deferred because of the pandemic.

UIS Chancellor Emerita, Susan Koch, conferred diploma covers to approximately 150 graduates. COVID protocols were in place for both ceremonies held at the UIS Sangamon Auditorium.

UIS to honor the Class of 2020 during two special commencement ceremonies

The University of Illinois Springfield will honor the Class of 2020 during two special commencement ceremonies on Saturday afternoon.

Officials said this will be an opportunity for 2020 graduates to walk across the stage in their cap and gown and have their names read in front of up to eight guests. The ceremonies will be held at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the UIS Sangamon Auditorium, which is inside the Public Affairs Center Building on Ernest Hemingway Drive.
