Interview with Leanne Brecklin

Leanne Brecklin is an associate professor in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice. She is from Freeport, Illinois. She began teaching at UIS in the fall of 2002.

Where did you go to University?

I went to DePaul University for undergrad and graduate school at UIC.

What was your undergraduate major?

I double majored in sociology and psychology.

What does your position entail, what do you like most about your job or what motivates you to wake up and go to work?

I love walking into the NPR studio and seeing the awesome people I work with. I also love when I can sit down with a community member and have a heart-felt conversation about what inspires them.

U of I Springfield makes interim police chief permanent

A 22-year veteran of the University of Illinois Springfield Police Department will continue to lead the force without an “interim” tag.

The school this week said interim police chief Ross Owens will be the next permanent chief. The move is pending approval from the U of I Board of Trustees, although those appointments typically go through without any trouble.

Laura Liesman Named UIS Director Of Athletics

The University of Illinois Springfield has named Laura Liesman as its Designate Director of Athletics, pending approval by the University of Illinois Board of Trustees. The Aurora, Illinois native has spent the past 18 years at Georgian Court University (GCU) in Lakewood, New Jersey. At GCU, she is the Assistant Vice President for Athletics and Recreation and Director of Athletics.
