The syllabus is a critical document to "set the stage" for students' expectations about your course.We invite you to this in-person workshop where we will discuss possible modifications to your syllabi using research on factors that impact student perceptions. Please bring one of your syllabi with you for active learning portions of the workshop.

Please join Livia Arndal Woods (English) and Jose Luis Irizarry (Public Management and Policy) for an informational session to kick off a new OPEL Faculty Fellows Program on inclusive teaching.

For the next two years, Jose and Livia will be convening small monthly bookclub meetings (books provided) and larger day-long workshop/conference events to foster faculty community and development focused on DEI investments in the classroom and beyond.

This session will introduce the attendees to the differences between the practice of teaching, scholarly teaching, and the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). We will also discuss some different types of SoTL research questions and have discussion about what types of questions the attendees may be interested in pursuing.
