PDFs are a ubiquitous filetype in higher ed, but students (and colleagues) who use assistive technology may not be able to read them if they're not prepared properly. Accessibility Specialist, Alana Gomoll, will demonstrate the process of PDF remediation used to ensure that the content on the page is represented in the structure of the document. This session will assume some existing familiarity with digital accessibility in order to focus on the remediation process.

CFE - Accessible Courses and Materials (Office/Canvas)

Accessible Courses and Materials (Office/Canvas)

Accessibility is a core component of inclusive and universal design, and it's often easier to make a page or document accessible as you author it rather than fixing the inaccessible parts later. In this session, Accessibility Specialist Alana Gomoll will give an introduction to common digital accessibility considerations with a focus on the tools available in Microsoft Office products and Canvas in order to equip you with the skills necessary to design accessible course materials and Canvas pages.
