Management, B.B.A.

Business Administration students who choose the Management concentration will develop the critical, conceptual, and interpersonal skills that are essential to employment in management positions in all types of organizations.

Human Resource Management, B.B.A.

Business Administration students who choose the Human Resource Management option will develop the critical, conceptual, and interpersonal skills that are essential to employment in management positions of organizations. Students will gain an understanding of all aspects of talent management, including job analysis and design, workforce planning and staffing, compensation and benefits, performance management, career planning and training, and employee and organizational development.

Comprehensive, B.B.A.

The Business Administration Comprehensive concentration provides students a deep understanding of important business skills including leadership, problem solving and analytical skills. The comprehensive concentration blends business functional areas including finance, operations, management and marketing.

The comprehensive curriculum acknowledges the impact of increasing globalization and technological advances in the marketplace and prepares students to compete in this rapidly changing environment.

Internships

Undergraduate Internships

An internship is required for BBA majors and highly recommended for all business students using catalogs prior to Fall 2013. Up to 6 hours credit can be earned fulfilling the ECCE engagement and/or elective requirement. Internships provide practical work experience while applying theories and concepts learned in the classroom. In the past approximately one in four students has been offered a position with their internship employer. They are great resume builders too.

Scholarships

Evelyn Brandt Thomas Scholarship

This is a $2500 scholarship awarded to full-time junior or senior students enrolled in the College of Business and Management.  Preference shall be for female students and may be renewable for one year.

Gilbert N. & Frances G. Stein Scholarship

Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually without regard to gender and shall be merit based first and then need. Scholarships will be provided to students entering or already enrolled in the College of Business and Management at UIS.

Student Organizations

Student business organizations offer social, service, and professional opportunities for students within the College of Business and Management. Membership can broaden acquaintances, develop leadership abilities, build decision-making and problem-solving skills, and complement classroom instruction.
