The Art History minor is a 15-16 credit hour course of study focusing on the foundations, meaningsand implications of the history of art. The undergraduate minor is designed for students wanting to gain an insight into different aspects of art history; understand how art history is related to culture and history; and recognize how the visual arts affects who we are as individuals, contributes to our humanityand deepens our understanding of the relationships between humans and society.

UIS Visual Arts Gallery presents the 2024 silent auction and benefit both online and at the gallery

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is excited to announce its annual silent auction and benefit, featuring a diverse collection of original art, reproductions, decorative objects and crafts donated by artists and community supporters. This year’s auction will be held both online and in person, making it easy for collectors and supporters across the region to participate.

The UIS Visual Arts Gallery presents “Continuum” by Springfield-based artist and LLCC Professor Laura Anderson

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present “Continuum” by Springfield-based artist and Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) Professor Laura Anderson. “Continuum” will open on Sept. 26 and run through Oct. 17. A reception for this exhibition will be held at the gallery from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26. This event is free and open to the public.

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present “Consider a Disappearance,” an exhibition by Chicago-based artist and experimental filmmaker Ruby Que. “Consider a Disappearance” will open on Monday, Feb. 12 and run through Thursday, March 7. An opening reception will be held at the gallery from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15.

The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present “Turn On Every Light,” a mixed-media installation by Peoria-based artist Heather Brammeier. This exhibition serves as a celebration of the human instinct to collect and reinvent.

“Turn On Every Light” will open on Tuesday, Jan. 16 and run through Thursday, Feb. 8. An exhibition reception will be held at the gallery from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25. This event is free and open to the public.
