This event will educate the UIS population about issues that people of color, specifically Black individuals, face. It will raise awareness regarding situations and provide ways to help.

UIS raises awareness about sexual assault

The University of Illinois Springfield is raising awareness for sexual assault awareness month.

Students placed hundreds of flags for the more than 400,000 people who become rape and sexual assault victims every year.

The goal is to raise awareness and show support for survivors on campus.

UIS sets up flag display for sexual assault awareness

The University of Illinois Springfield is observing Sexual Assault Awareness Month Day of Action.

The UIS Women's Center and Civic Engagement Center created a display of 1,000 flags.

The display also includes resources for those who are victims of sexual assault or know someone who is.

WHAT: The University of Illinois Springfield Women’s Center and Volunteer and Civic Engagement Center will co-sponsor a visual display of 1,000 flags on the UIS quad for Sexual Assault Awareness Month’s Day of Action.
