I was glad to be back in Springfield last week following a busy three days in Chicago the prior week for Board of Trustees activities. This week is the Investiture at 2 p.m. Wednesday, and I’m so grateful to everyone who is working hard to make this a special event.

It’s my pleasure to announce the appointment of Dr. Linda M. Delene as UIS interim provost/vice chancellor for academic affairs, effective Monday, Jan. 9. Dr. Delene will serve as interim provost/VCAA designate until completion of the formal approval process with the Board of Trustees at its Jan. 26 meeting.

I am pleased to share that we are close to completing the interview process with potential interim provost candidates to fill an approximate six-month term while we conduct a national search for our next permanent provost. I wanted to provide the opportunity for faculty and staff to share their thoughts regarding the areas in which the interim provost should focus during their brief time with us.

As we begin finals week and the end of 2022 quickly approaches, I’m thankful for all of the students, faculty and staff who have made this such a joyous year. Thank you for welcoming me into the Prairie Star family. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season filled with kindness, joy and time with family.
