Anthony Hightower chose the University of Illinois Springfield because it’s close to home and offered the Capital Scholars Honors Program (CAP). On campus, he works for Student Life, is president of the Black Male Collegiate Society and is a CAP peer mentor. He is a member of the Black Student Union, Afrobeat Dance Crew and Voices in Praise. When asked what he most likes about UIS, he said, “I like the small campus. All the buildings are close by and easy to reach.” Following graduation from UIS, he plans to attend medical school.
