Housing Options

Housing Options at UIS

Welcome to Residence Life at the University of Illinois Springfield! Explore the housing options available to you, designed to cater to your needs and enhance your overall university experience.

Residence Halls

The housing needs of freshmen and sophomore students are ideally met by the design of our two residence halls: Lincoln Residence Hall (LRH) and Founders Residence Hall (FRH).

Space Reservation

Are you a UIS Department wishing to reserve a space in the Department of Residence Life areas for internal events such as staff meetings, interviews, training or recruitment? Are you a UIC Department on Campus at UIS but do not have UIS Connection access? The faculty, Office Support, or Department staff may use this form to make a reservation request, but only for areas that the Department of Residence Life controls.

Vending

The Department of Residence Life areas have several soda/pop and snack machines located in various areas: Homer Butler Commons has a vending area with both soda/pop and snacks for sale in the kitchen; both residence halls have a vending area located on their 1st floor, Founders Residence Hall has an additional area near the Esports & Classroom Lounge; Lincoln Residence Hall has an outdoor vending area near its patio seating area; and Marigold Court and Pennyroyal Court have a vending area located in their laundry rooms.

Trash and Waste Removal

Townhouses and Apartments

The Department of Residence Life contracts trash removal services with Waste Management of Illinois. Each court has an enclosed corral located near it where large waste receptacles (dumpsters) can be found.  Trash is collected by Waste Management two to three (2-3) times per week depending upon needs of the area. All trash from student residencies should be placed, not thrown, in these large dumpsters. All trash must be in securely closed trash bags. Trash is never to be left outside of the apartments unattended for any length of time.

Pest Control

The Basics

Pest control is not just the regular treatments that are provided by Department of Residence Life Facilities and our ORKIN vendor. The prevention of insects and rodents inside our living areas as well as keeping animals a safe distance outside our buildings is a responsibility for all of us.

To help reduce the nuisance complaints about pests and keep cost down, we recommend the follow for all areas:

Laundry

The Department of Residence Life areas have several washer and dryer machines located in each of the residential areas. Each Court has a designated laundry room as well as each floor in the residence halls.

All machines are free to operate and no money is required! You just need to select your cycle and press start. As the laundry is free there is no need to overload any machine in an attempt to save money.

Heating and Cooling

East Campus Living – Bluebell, Larkspur, Clover, and Sunflower

Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems within the east side courts, reasonable limits are placed upon each unit. Despite being able to set some thermostats lower than sixty (60) and higher than ninety (90) degrees, the AC will not be able to cool past 65 degrees and the Heat will not be able to go above 75 degrees. Temperatures of the apartments may go past these restrictions if the outside temperature is lower or higher than the settings.
