Stove/Oven – Helpful Tips on using your stove/oven

• When cooking, do not leave food unattended
• Clean spills immediately after use to avoid “caking” and buildup
• Clean appliance inside and outside at least once a month
  • Drip pans can be placed in dishwasher or washed by hand
  • Stove/oven top can be opened by lifting to clear dropped debris
  • Inside oven can be cleaned using 409 Cleaner or an Oven Cleaner (read directions for proper product use)
  • Stove/Oven drawer is removable and allows students to clean underneath appliance

Status of Opening Work Orders and Maintenance

It has truly been a busy time in the Department of Residence Life. As our maintenance department continues to work diligently to address all maintenance related issues, we would like to let all of our students know that some work on projects may extend into the Fall semester. We ask that when you arrive, if a project is noted on your inventory or by your RA as in progress, or in the queue to be addressed, that you are aware that our maintenance staff will be addressing those issues as soon as possible.

Students arriving after scheduled/communicated Move-In dates must contact the Residence Life Office to coordinate their check in.

Getting to Campus for Move-In Day

All new students will check in at TRAC (#9 on the campus map) and can utilize Lot I while checking in on August 20, 2024. For individuals utilizing GPS to arrive on-campus, please direct your GPS to:

2171 University Drive, Springfield, IL 62703

This will take you directly to the parking and check-in staging area, once there our staff will direct you to your designated Residence Hall for check-in.

From the South using I-55, leave the interstate at Exit 90 for Toronto Road. Turn right (east) at the top of the exit ramp, proceed through the small business area, over a rail crossing, and past a Springfield Fire Department Station; follow the roadway as it curves left and passes CACC (Capital Area Career Center). East Campus: Continue to Shepherd Road, and turn left.  At University Drive, turn right and proceed to William Maxwell Lane.  Turn Left onto William Maxwell Lane and follow signs to East Campus Check-In.

Fall 2024 housing opens for all returning students on August 21, 2024. Prior to these dates, the buildings are not fully staffed and thus cannot provide the safety and security operations necessary to physically open early. We encourage all students to move-in on or after their respective move-in date. Students can check in after their respective opening date without financial penalty, through the second day of classes.

  • Lincoln and Founders Residence Halls will be open for Move In Tuesday, August 20, 2024 for new students only. Check-in time slots will be offered between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

• New students checking in to their rooms should report to the Homer Butler Housing Commons (aka HCOM) located as #20 on the campus map.

• Students will need to present their i-Card/Student ID or picture ID when checking in.

• The i-Card Center is located  in the University Hall Building (UHB) room 1004, should you need to obtain your i-Card.
