Braidyn Phinney of Ottawa, Illinois, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for the fall semester of 2025 and awarded a $12,000 Star Scholar Award for tuition over four years. At UIS, he will major in computer science. The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed if the student maintains college GPA requirements. In high school, he was involved in the chess club and Dungeons and Dragons club. |

UIS Men's Basketball Falls to Upper Iowa

The Illinois Springfield men's basketball team suffered an 80-62 loss to Upper Iowa on Thursday night in Fayette, Iowa. With the defeat, the Prairie Stars fall to 12-13 overall and 7-10 in GLVC play, while the Peacocks improve to 18-8 overall and 12-6 in the conference.

UIS Men’s Track Sends Trio to IC Hilltop Classic for Final Regular-Season Meet

The UIS men's track and field team will send a trio of athletes to the IC Hilltop Classic at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill. on Friday, marking the final meet of the regular season. The event serves as the last opportunity for Prairie Stars to qualify for the GLVC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

UIS Softball Adds Games to Schedule for Feb. 23-24

The UIS softball team has added two doubleheaders to its schedule after the Blue Bridge Battle was canceled due to winter weather. The Prairie Stars will face Thomas More on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT, followed by a doubleheader against Findlay on Monday at noon CT.
