Amanda Swigert awarded an $8,000 scholarship to attend the University of Illinois Springfield

Amanda Swigert of Decatur, Illinois, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2024 and awarded an $8,000 Star Scholar Award for tuition over four years. The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements. Swigert will major in elementary education. Following graduation from UIS, she plans to teach at a Title I school like Hope Academy in Illinois. |

Eleven Teams Earn Academic All-GLVC Award, Women’s Tennis Posts Best GPA in GLVC

The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) started GLVC Academic Award Week by announcing its 2023-24 Academic All-Conference Team Award recipients on Monday. Eleven UIS teams earned the award for having a team GPA of 3.30 or higher, nine of which averaged above 3.50.

Ivan Dahlberg Selected to ABCA Midwest Region All-Defensive Team

Ivan Dahlberg, the sophomore starting catcher on the University of Illinois Springfield baseball team, was selected to the 2024 American Baseball Coaches Assosication (ABCA) NCAA Division II Midwest Region All-Defensive team. Dahlberg was one of four Great Lakes Valley Conference athletes selected to the team.
