Hundreds of students take part in the 53rd annual UIS Commencement ceremony

The University of Illinois Springfield held its 53rd annual Commencement ceremony in three parts on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Sangamon Auditorium. Out of the 1,625 UIS students who were eligible to graduate, 1,051 participated in the ceremony. UIS Chancellor Janet Gooch presided over her second commencement ceremony, welcoming thousands of guests. She congratulated the graduates on their success and starting a new chapter in their lives. |
Election of Campus Senate Officers 2024-2025

Dear colleagues, Campus Senate would like to announce the election of Lynn Fisher of CLASS as 2024-2025 Senate Chair, and Holly Thompson, CLASS, as 2024-2025 Vice-Chair. We are also pleased to report that Deborah Anthony, CPAE, has agreed to serve as Parliamentarian. Full information about membership of the new Senate Executive Committee will be shared as soon as possible. Campus Senate meetings will resume in the fall. Important Update: Changes to Website Workflow Effective August 1st

As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring our website remains fully compliant with accessibility standards, we are implementing a critical change in the role permissions for our site publishers. Effective August 1st, all current site publishers will be required to use the new editoria11y accessibility module before publishing content to the website. Additionally, a yearly quiz will be administered to ensure an understanding of the accessibility requirements. |

5.13.24 Happy Monday— We did it! We completed another successful academic year at UIS. Thank you to everyone who helped at or attended Commencement. It was amazing to see all the happy faces of graduates, their families and friends. To continue the celebratory atmosphere, I hope to see you in the Student Union Ballroom from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today for our End of Academic Year Party. Thank you to Human Resources for planning the festivities. |
