Illinois State University professor named director of UIS School of Education

An Illinois State University professor will be the director of the University of Illinois Springfield School of Education starting this summer. UIS announced Tuesday that Beth Hatt, a professor of educational administration and foundations at Illinois State, would start as director on June 16. She has spent the past 10 years with the ISU College of Education and holds a doctorate in culture, curriculum and change from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. |
UIS raises awareness about sexual assault

The University of Illinois Springfield is raising awareness for sexual assault awareness month. Students placed hundreds of flags for the more than 400,000 people who become rape and sexual assault victims every year. The goal is to raise awareness and show support for survivors on campus. UIS partners with UIC School of Law so students can earn their law degree faster

University of Illinois Springfield undergraduate students can now earn both their bachelor’s degree and a law degree in six years. That is compared to the typical seven years. This is thanks to a new agreement with the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. |
UIS changing COVID testing requirements

The University of Illinois Springfield is making changes to its COVID-19 testing policy. Starting April 11, employees, faculty, staff, and long-term guests who have not yet been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will only have to test once per week. Previously, they had to get tested twice per week. Testing is optional for those who are up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccine. Changes are also being made to the hours of operation of the SHIELD saliva-based testing site. |
