Two presentations locally this coming week will explore the conflict in Ukraine.

The University of Illinois Springfield will host a webinar panel discussion “Understanding What's Happening and Why” with three faculty experts followed by a question-and-answer session at noon Wednesday.

When we think of community gardens, what usually comes to mind is a juicy strawberry or a tomato plucked fresh from the vine. While home-grown local produce is delightful, also keep in mind that community gardens function as a nexus of community. They are places to meet and get to know others with similar interests, to make connections and get involved in other community groups and events.

Sustainability, health and wellness, keeping communities connected and space on campus are all issues that get the attention of college leaders as they plan for the future. And they can all be connected in a roundabout way through one simple, fun vehicle that can breathe surprising life into campuses: the bicycle.
