The University of Illinois Springfield Visual Arts Gallery is pleased to present “To Unmake a Fold,” a group exhibition that features Chicago-based artists Mark Blanchard, Cass Davis, bena foli and Kelly Kristin Jones. The exhibition will open on Monday, Jan. 13 and run through Thursday, Feb. 20. A reception for the exhibit will take place from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23 in the Visual Arts Gallery. |

The exhibit will open on Thursday, Feb. 27, and run through Thursday, April 9 and is free and open to the public. An opening reception will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27 in the Visual Arts Gallery. |

UIS waives application fees through 2022-23 academic year

University of Illinois Springfield is waiving all application fees starting from now through the 2022-2023 academic year for all incoming students. Officials said students can apply to the university through Common App. It is an online college application platform that serves more than three million applicants, teachers, counselors and advisors across the U.S. and around the world every year. |

Reaching Stellar: Illinois Innocence Project trains next generation of exonerators

The Illinois Innocence Project at UIS has freed or exonerated 20 people since it was founded 20 years ago. On campus in Springfield, it’s known for the powerful display of flags each Wrongful Conviction Day in October, where one flag is displayed for every innocent person exonerated from prison. But IIP also is known for giving both undergraduate and law school students real-world experience that shapes them into the next generation of defenders of the innocent. |
