The Sangamon Experience at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) will present five live-streamed historical discussions at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays in March. The series of live-streamed discussions is part of their “Women’s History Month: Community Trailblazers” series. We are told the series plans to highlight women who have impacted their community here in central Illinois throughout the month. |

The University of Illinois Springfield women’s basketball team already wielded a slew of talented guards such as standouts Lauren Ladowski and Malea Jackson. That stellar backcourt is even further bolstered by sophomore guard Ally Gietzel, a transfer from Illinois State. Gietzel converted a crucial jumper and added a pair of late free throws to cement UIS’ first ever Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament victory, 60-52 over Missouri S&T at The Recreation and Athletic Center on Monday. |

UIS Cox Children’s Center receives Gold Circle of Quality designation

The University of Illinois Springfield Cox Children’s Center has received the Gold Circle of Quality designation, the highest rating possible, from ExceleRate Illinois, the state’s new quality rating and improvement system for early learning and development providers. “We are proud to receive the Gold Circle of Quality,” said Stacey Gilmore, director of the UIS Cox Children’s Center. “Providing quality in early learning and development will help our children be better prepared for success in school and in life.” |
