Reaching Stellar: Center for Lincoln Studies Just Getting Started

The goal of the Center for Lincoln Studies at UIS is to share the life and legacy of the nation’s 16th president. And while those who run the Center wish they could have brought people onto campus during the first year it was open, they have no doubt they have succeeded in in sharing his life and legacy. The Center for Lincoln Studies is one of the five priorities of the Reaching Stellar campaign, a $40 million campaign that is raising support for UIS. The Center opened on Feb. 12, 2021 – Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. |
Illinois' Lauren Wiles and UIS' Danielle Dennis earn conference Player of Week accolades

Illinois and the University of Illinois Springfield softball teams are both 4-1 after the opening weekend of the spring season. Both teams already have stars emerging. Danielle Dennis (0.529 BAVG, 1.294 SLG%) was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week. The junior had quite a busy weekend at the plate totaling nine hits, four home runs, six runs, 11 RBI and one double. She was the difference maker in two wins this past weekend. |
UIS baseball and softball open seasons with victories

The University of Illinois Springfield baseball and softball teams both threw out the first pitch of their respective seasons Friday. The Prairie Stars baseball team beat Tusculum University 13-3. UIS debates diversity curriculum

A three-year debate about how and whether the concepts of diversity, inequality and social responsibility should be taught at University of Illinois Springfield could culminate Feb. 18. The Campus Senate, made up of about 30 faculty and student members, will consider resolutions at that time dealing with the Engaged Citizenship Common Experience (ECCE) curriculum. The curriculum is a three-course graduation requirement for all students that has been in place for more than a decade. |
UIS, Community Health Roundtable webinar to focus on local economy after two years of COVID-19

The University of Illinois Springfield Center for State Policy and Leadership and the Community Health Roundtable will host a virtual webinar titled “The Health of our Local Economy and Businesses after Two Years of the COVID-19 Pandemic” at noon Friday via Zoom. In the webinar, a panel of experts will review the latest local economic and employment data, and report on the health of our local businesses after two years of COVID-19. |
