Overview

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is the one-stop-shop for members of the UIS community to support research, scholarship, creative activities and internal and external grant proposals. We strive to provide excellent support services to faculty, staff, and students engaged in research, as well as to protect the university by complying with external sponsoring agency guidelines at the federal, state, and university levels. We work together as a team within our office and with other units on campus to create smooth, efficient processes so we can ensure the success of our faculty and students involved in research.

What's New?

PIPL

China recently passed legislation on a new comprehensive privacy law called the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL), which went into effect on November 1, 2021. This law affects how personal information collected from or about individuals within the territory of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) can be used and processed, and has impacted various aspects of University business, including human subjects research. Non-compliance with the PIPL may put both the University and researchers at risk for liability or possibly even criminal sanctions. The University of Illinois Supplemental Privacy Notice – PIPL explains how the University of Illinois System meets its obligations under the Personal Information Protection Law with respect to such information.

If you are an investigator who is conducting research that involves processing personal information from individuals located in the PRC mainland, please contact ora@uis.edu.
