The Provost’s Office sponsors and/or coordinates multiple UIS funding opportunities for faculty. Read more about each of the programs below.

Scholarly Presentation Support Program (SPSP)

Individual faculty members may request up to $600 per year in Scholarly Presentation Support funds to be applied toward registration and usual travel-related expenses such as transportation, lodging, and per diem. As funds allow, up to $800 additional funds may be requested for international travel.

The Harry and Deborah Berman Sabbatical Fund

Available for faculty receiving sabbaticals. Application due September of the year before the sabbatical.

Grant Writing Mentorship Program

This program is designed to support new grant writers by matching them with mentors to assist them in submitting competitive proposals to external funding sources. The deadline to apply is April 19, 2024. Competitive Scholarly Research Grant Program (CSRG)

The Competitive Scholarly Research Grants Program provides support to faculty engaging in scholarly/creative research. Grants of up to $5,000 will be made in support of scholarly research activities.

Caryl Towsley Moy, PhD, Endowed Fund for Collaborative Research

Available for faculty collaborating with the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
