Dear Faculty and Staff —
Dear Faculty and Staff —
The University of Illinois Springfield held a Faculty Honors Reception on Monday, April 17, 2023. Chancellor Janet Gooch and Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost Linda Delene presided over the ceremony.
Four major awards – the Pearson Faculty Award, the Spencer Faculty Service Award, the Faculty Excellence Award and the Burks Oakley II Distinguished Online Teaching Award - were presented.
Dear Faculty and Staff —
Items discussed in the Chancellor’s Cabinet meeting included completion of the campus listening sessions; de-escalation training for faculty and staff; the onboarding process for new vice chancellors and deans; the establishment of a steering committee for the Title III grant proposal to strengthen institutions; and the multiple professional development services provided by Academic Impressions.
Dear Faculty and Staff —
Final candidates for the CHST dean position were present on campus early this week. Their campus visits were encouraging to individuals and search committees, and we are grateful for your warm welcome and participation in open forums and interviews.
The University of Illinois Springfield Office of the Provost, in conjunction with the Campus Senate Committee on the Assessment of Student Learning, is pleased to announce that five faculty projects will be receiving program assessment grants for the 2023-2024 academic year. This grant program, which is in its inaugural year, is designed to promote best practices in program-level assessment of student learning outcomes.
The UIS community is invited to presentations by our two College of Health, Science and Technology (CHST) Inaugural Dean finalists on April 3 and April 5. Finalist CVs are included below. A link to the confidential feedback form will be shared following each finalist’s presentation.
