Special Written Agreement Regarding Tenure

The agreement below is referenced in the Tenure Rollback Request online form.

The purpose of the document is to reflect the understanding and agreement entered into between <faculty name> and The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, University of Illinois Springfield, College of <college>, Department of <dept>, with respect to the rights of said <faculty name> pursuant to the provisions of Section 1 of Article X of the University of Illinois Statutes.

Qualifications

Distinction is the “prime controlling consideration” for an academic department’s nomination of an individual to receive an honorary UIS degree.  According to the Faculty Personnel Policy, “The person should have made a distinguished contribution to knowledge and creativity in the relevant field of endeavor, or have shown sustained activity of uncommon merit.  The contributions may be made in a wide range of activities; the following list is not exhaustive:

Academic Affairs Travel Requests

All requests for off-campus travel by staff/administrators in the Division of Academic Affairs must be authorized in advance. Please use Chrome River to request pre-approval. The purpose of travel pre-approval is to reduce risk to the individual and to the institution by clearly identifying when the employee is in work-related travel mode, and when the employee is on personal time.

Questions regarding travel requests should be directed to your supervisor.

Non-Instructional Assignments

NIA Process

  • Faculty initiate NIA forms for the coming academic year (fall and spring semesters) according to college deadlines, for all activities other than assigned teaching responsibilities.
  • ALL PROPOSED NIAs for the coming academic year – including those referenced in contracts/offer letters and through the CBA, with descriptive plan and specific goals, must be completed and submitted by current faculty members, acted upon by the Department Chair/Head or School Director, and routed to the Dean for consideration.
  • All Dean-approved NIA

University-Sanctioned Event Requests

University of Illinois Springfield values and supports the required participation of both on-ground and online students in university sanctioned events. Requests by organizations for permanent and/or temporary sanctioning of events will be considered by the Office of the Provost, with input from the Campus Senate Committee on Admissions, Recruitment and Retention (CARR).

Instructional Faculty Qualifications Policy

I. Faculty Credentials

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) guidelines, “Determining Qualified Faculty through HLC’s Criteria for Accreditation and Assumed Practices: Guidelines for Institutions and Peer Reviewers,” provide that faculty responsible for developing curriculum and/or providing instruction must meet certain minimum qualifications, dependent upon the level (undergraduate or graduate) of their instructional responsibilities and/or curriculum development.
