UIS Police Department Manual of Conduct on Demonstrations, Protests, Strikes, and Labor Disputes
This material is provided to the parties involved in demonstrations, protests, strikes and labor disputes by the UIS Police Department as guidelines to insure the protection of rights of all citizens.
By seeking the cooperation of the parties involved, tensions may be reduced and self-discipline encouraged so that the parties may police their own conduct.

The University of Illinois Springfield prepares the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report and includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on the Springfield and Peoria Center campuses.
Campus Security Authorities Reporting
What is a CSA?
A Campus Security Authority (CSA) is a student, employee, volunteer, or an individual contracted by the University who is mandated to report Clery Act qualifying crimes that occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the university.
Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act of 2000
The Victims of Trafficking and Violence Act of 2000 requires colleges and universities to inform students and employees how to learn the identity of registered sex offenders on campus. This law contains the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act which becomes effective October 23, 2002.

Springfield road conditions remain hazardous as snow total tops 11 inches in area
Road conditions in Sangamon County remained hazardous Thursday as Winter Storm Landon continued to dump snow on the area. More than 11 inches had fallen by Thursday afternoon.
The storm particularly created havoc with government and travel by car, train and plane.
Local highways continued to be called hazardous by police. They urged residents only to drive in case of an emergency.

Since January has been designated as National Stalking Awareness Month, it presents us with the opportunity to help educate the UIS community with some information about stalking. Stalking can happen to anyone, anywhere, and at any time. So how do you know if it’s happening to you?
Sexual Assault
What acts are considered sex offenses?
According to the Illinois Compiled Statutes, if a person engages in sexual penetration without consent, by use of physical force, coercion or threat (actual or implied), the act is considered assault. Threats of death or use of a weapon increases the severity of legal charges. Sex crimes can be prosecuted even if the victim knew the attacker, the victim did not fight back, the victim had sex with the attacker before being raped, or the victim was drunk or unconscious.
