Hi everyone! I’m Dr. Brandon Bolte, and I started as an Assistant Professor of Political Science in the UIS School of Politics and International Affairs (SPIA) in Fall 2023. Beginning July 1, I’ll also be a member of the Board of Directors of the World Affairs Council of Central Illinois (WACCI).

The general election will take place this year on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. This day is not designated as a holiday for universities in Illinois. However, time off to vote may be available in accordance with State of Illinois law.

The University of Illinois Springfield English Department is pleased to announce a collaboration with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) aimed at refining writing skills for communicating with the public. This partnership underscores UIS' commitment to supporting public sector initiatives and promoting clear, accessible communication.

Justin Castillo of Chicago, Illinois has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2024 and awarded an $8,000 Star Scholar Award for tuition over four years.

The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.

Castillo will major in finance. In high school, he was involved in soccer.
