The University of Illinois Springfield School of Education has partnered with Springfield School District 186 to support the district’s new Diverse Workforce Pipeline Program. The goal of the program is to increase the number of diverse teachers in District 186 classrooms.

Dear UIS Students, Faculty and Staff —

On Monday, Feb. 28, the statewide mask mandate will be lifted, making mask-wearing optional in most public indoor spaces unless otherwise required by federal, local or organizational/business laws or policies. Over the past two weeks, members of the UIS leadership team have had numerous conversations with students, faculty and staff about possible next steps regarding our mask-wearing requirements.

How did UIS prepare you for your job? UIS prepared me for my job at Ace Sign Co. by giving me the opportunity to work alongside professors, not only as a student, but as a Leadership Lived Experience Student Worker. The additional knowledge I learned in my position through working side by side with Professor Brytton Bjorngaard helped me navigate the designer/client relationship. Her experience as a commercial designer helped provide me with direction and knowledge of the field.
