On December 13, 2022, UIS will be implementing 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) to better protect both you and the university from unauthorized access to your personal data stored in the university's enterprise systems. UIS will be requiring a second layer of security to access your University account making it difficult for an unauthorized person to access your information. 2FA provides better account protection than merely using a password.

On December 6 at approximately 10 a.m., the UIS Police Department will be conducting a test of the Rave text message system in conjunction with the monthly tornado siren test. We will follow up the test with a brief survey (no longer than 12 questions) to help evaluate the effectiveness of the tornado sirens and the Rave text message system. We would appreciate your participation to help identify areas we need to improve.

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

As we begin finals week and the end of 2022 quickly approaches, I’m thankful for all of the students, faculty and staff who have made this such a joyous year. Thank you for welcoming me into the Prairie Star family. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season filled with kindness, joy and time with family. In that spirit, I want to share with you a short video looking back at our first semester together.  

Ty Brachbill of Shelbyville, a senior at Shelbyville High School, has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for Fall Semester 2023 and awarded a $32,000 Lincoln Merit Scholarship for tuition over four years. At UIS, he will major in exercise science.

The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed for a total of four years if the student maintains college GPA requirements.

The Spring 2023 graduate experience is one that will leave students with a broader understanding of the historical practices of the United States and more. Dr. Hunter will be offering HIS 502 Public History Colloquium. Since the early-1980s, HIS 502 has served as the foundation for graduate public history study at UIS, with readings focused on theories, methods, and case studies of public history.
