As a resident assistant (RA) at the University of Illinois Springfield, liberal studies major Benita Ekwonwa has learned many lessons about leadership.

Veteran University of Illinois Springfield Police Officer Ross Owens of Springfield has been named the new UIS Police Chief, pending University of Illinois Board of Trustees approval. Owens has worked for the UIS Police Department for 22 years, having most recently served as the interim police chief since January 2021.
