Housing Options at UIS
Welcome to Residence Life at the University of Illinois Springfield! Explore the housing options available to you, designed to cater to your needs and enhance your overall university experience.
Residence Halls
The housing needs of freshmen and sophomore students are ideally met by the design of our two residence halls: Lincoln Residence Hall (LRH) and Founders Residence Hall (FRH).
The buildings are three stories high with five student housing wings. Students live in four person suites. A suite consists of two double rooms with a shared semi private bath. Take a virtual tour of Founder's Residence Hall today!
Amenities Include
- Each double room includes (2) twin XL beds, (2) desks, (2) desk chairs and (2) dressers.
- Furniture can be stacked as bunk beds or lofted beds above desks.
- Free laundry services and lounge on each wing.
- Equip with a heating and cooling system.
- Each wing is served by a Resident Assistant.
ADA Unit - Founders Residence Hall
These private units are only in FRH and are extremely limited. Priority assignments to these units are based on approved accommodations determined by the Office of Disability Services (ODS).

- Private bathroom – wide entrance – no door
- Shower with seat and extendable shower faucet
- Dresser
- Desk and chair

Apartments and Townhouses
Private bedroom assignments are available in the townhouses and apartments. Rental costs vary according to the type of accommodation. The wide variety of living options and range of housing costs allow students to obtain the accommodations which best meet their personal and financial requirements. We recommend students apply early, as many of our spaces are limited.
Units designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities are available in all of the complexes.
West Campus Townhouses
Pennyroyal, Marigold, Trillium and Foxglove courts include modern, four-bedroom two-bathroom townhouse units featuring an open floor plan, spacious living areas, cathedral style ceilings, and full modern kitchens. East Campus Apartments
Clover, Bluebell, and Larkspur courts were created specifically for upperclassmen and graduate students. These units feature 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms each, with cozy carpeted living areas and bedrooms, as well as fully equipped modern kitchens. Family Housing Options
Family residents are assigned to either one or two bedroom apartments and may request furnished or unfurnished apartments depending on availability. Due to the size of the units, occupancy is limited to no more than three persons in a one bedroom apartment and no more than four persons in a two bedroom apartment. In family housing, one set of keys will be issued to the UIS student signing the Housing Contract. Parents may request up to two additional sets of keys to be used by their spouse or children over the age of twelve. Additionally paperwork will need to be submitted when applying for Family Housing.
